Hey girls,
I get asked often about how often should you train your skills? I’ve been contemplating this a lot lately. This morning especially… I’m sitting here after my morning workout, (side note this is a daily struggle to go, but I go because its good for me) and was just thinking after taking a seminar how often should we train for self-defense? To sustain our skills? Is it weekly? Bi-weekly, monthly? Because if something happens will we be ready?
The short answer is we should be training as much as possible.
This goes back to our mindset mentally and then physically maintaining a skillset we can pull from. For example, will you remember the eye jab, or the palm heel strike? Elbow? Forearm strike? These are questions we need to ask ourselves, if and when will we be ready? It takes 21 days to form a habit. Ask yourself, “What day are you on?” These are the kind of things that go through my mind, as I sit and train myself mentally to always be ready when I go to the gym, the grocery store, or getting my nails manicured, will I be ready, if the worst happens. My advice on training is sustain it as much as possible. Practice and go through mental exercises so you’re always prepared.
