Who we are
Our website address is: https://womenagainstcrime.com.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
We use Gravity Forms to manage our contact and inquiry forms. When you submit a form, the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message content) is stored in our WordPress database and may also be sent to us via email notification. Depending on the form, this information may also be used to add you to our mailing list if you opt in (see Mailchimp below). We do not share your form submissions with third parties except as necessary to respond to your inquiry or as required by law.
Please be advised Women Against Crime, LLC and/or Trish Hoffman is not an attorney, medical provider, or licensed therapist. If you are an individual facing a crisis of any kind, please call 9-1-1.
Orders and purchases
If you make a purchase through our site, we use WooCommerce to process and manage your order. We collect information such as your name, billing and shipping address, email address, and order details in order to fulfill your purchase and provide customer support. Payment is processed directly by Square, our payment processor; we do not store your full payment card details on our servers. Square’s privacy policy is available at https://squareup.com/us/en/legal/general/privacy. Order data may be retained as needed for order history, accounting, and legal/tax obligations.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
WooCommerce will also set a small number of cookies to remember who you are and remember your cart contents while you browse our site.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about how visitors use our site, such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic location. This information helps us understand how our site is used and improve it over time. Google Analytics does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Email marketing
If you subscribe to our newsletter or mailing list (via a form on our site), your name and email address are shared with Mailchimp, our email marketing provider, in order to send you updates and communications. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send. Mailchimp’s privacy policy is available at https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.
Who we share your data with
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
Contact form submissions are managed through Gravity Forms and are shared only with staff members at Women Against Crime who need them to respond to your inquiry.
If you make a purchase, your order information is shared with WooCommerce and Square, our payment processor, in order to complete the transaction.
If you subscribe to our mailing list, your name and email address are shared with Mailchimp.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to respond to and resolve your inquiry, unless you request deletion sooner.
Order information is retained for as long as necessary for accounting, tax, and legal purposes.
If you subscribe to our mailing list, your information is retained by Mailchimp until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes (such as completed order records).
Where we send your data
Comment data, contact form submissions, order data, and mailing list data may be processed by third-party service providers we use to operate this site, including our web hosting provider, Gravity Forms, WooCommerce, Square, Google Analytics, and Mailchimp. These providers process data solely on our behalf to deliver these services.
Visitor comments may also be checked through an automated spam detection service.
